The beets block the absorption of 'bad' fats contained in the burger by hindering the oxidation of fat in the gut – a true winner's dinner.
Ingredients
Turkey mince, 400g
Dried thyme
Wholemeal bap
Lettuce
Beetroot
Method
Put the mince in a bowl and add a little seasoning. Mix the ingredients together with your hands, then shape into patties as thick (or thin) as you want them.
Stick the patty in the fridge for a few minutes so it doesn’t fall apart in the pan, then smear olive oil on the meat and grill it for 5 min on each side.
Serve on the bun with some torn chopped gem lettuce, then top the burger with a couple of slices of beetroot in place of the customary tomato.
