Sports supplements, fat loss supplements, fitness supplements and body building supplements can generally not be taken for too long. Each supplement can be taken for a maximum of 2 months, after which the user should take a break.
You may not have heard this before as many companies don't bother telling you this so you keep buying their product month after month. However, this is not the best way to see results.
Cycling is the term used for taking different supplements at different times.
After taking one or a combination of supplements for 2 months, you must then stop and take at least a 1 month break. During this break, you can take any other supplement or combination of supplements.
Example 1: You can take Fatstripper for 2 months. You must then stop for one month. In this month, you can take nothing or any other supplement/s such as Nobese, Sculpt etc
Example 2: You can take Norateen Heavyweight II and Long Jack for 2 months. After this, you must stop for at least 1 month. During this time you can take nothing (or just protein) or take ZMAX, Natrex or any other supplement/s.
Basically you can do a 2 month on, 1 month off on any supplement. In the month off, you can take any other supplement or combination.
Supplements which are similar to food can be taken all year round, all the time without the need for cycling. These are all protein supplements, all Weight Gain supplements with the exception of Komplete, energy supplements, and detox supplements.
There are two important reasons for cycling products.
Firstly by cycling products, you make sure your body takes a break and readjusts. This ensures that you are always seeing results from the supplements and your body doesn't get too used to one supplement.
Secondly, cycling supplements ensures your body is healthy and functioning at optimum levels and that you get the "best" results from supplements.
Yes you may get very good gains if you take Creatine for 4-5 months in a row. But these gains will not be the "best" gains and you will almost certainly lose a lot of them if you then come off Creatine, which you will eventually have to.
It is always best to cycle supplements. Use your own combinations. You can take as many supplements at once as you want but just make sure you don't take any single one for more than 2 months without a break.
