We all love a good brew and whilst we like to think it can help solve any problem, there are a selection of teas available that really are the real deal. Not only do they provide natural health benefits but as well as some being caffeine-free, they can also help naturally detox the body and ease some ailments.
Red Rooibos Tea
Also commonly known as Red Bush Tea, it comes from a bush plant that is found in South Africa. This super tea is known as a cure for nagging headaches, insomnia, asthma, eczema, bone weakness, hypertension, allergies and premature ageing. It is also completely caffeine-free, is low in tannins and rich in poly-phenols that have anti-inflammatory qualities. Red Rooibos Tea can also help reduce blood pressure and improve cardiovascular health.
Lemon Ginger Tea
A popular tea that is a go-to drink when feeling under the weather due to it's natural medicinal qualities to help relieve cold and flu symptoms. It can also help to lower dangerous effects within diabetes, such as high blood pressure, heart disease and many others as well as being an instant cure for motion sickness and vomiting. Lemon Ginger Tea also has anti-inflammatory qualities and has healing effects on different types of pain, such as menstrual cramps and headaches.
White Tea
Not as well-known as some other teas, White Tea contains the same types of antioxidants as Green Tea, but in greater quantity. These antioxidants are found to have many health promoting properties including boosting cardiovascular health, helping to lower cholesterol, reducing the risk of cancer and enhancing weight loss. Regular consumption of this tea can also be effective in reducing the risk of tooth decay/cavities and can reduce the risk of premature ageing as well as maintaining healthy and youthful skin.
Green Tea
An extremely popular tea which has grown enormously in fame in the last decade. Green Tea has been around for thousands of years, being particularly prominent in Chinese medicine as well as a popular beverage throughout Asia. Green Tea is richer in antioxidants than other types of tea because of the way it is made. It is well known for it's ability to boost metabolism and burn calories to aid weight loss. It also contains B vitamins, folate (naturally occurring folic acid), manganese, potassium, magnesium, caffeine and other antioxidants, most notably catechins. Green Tea can also help build stamina and immunity, reduce cholesterol, eliminate hangovers, improve blood circulation and help tone and tighten skin.
Matcha Tea (Matcha Green Tea)
Matcha is made from finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves, which makes it a super potent, much stronger version of Green Tea. As a result, it boasts similar health benefits to that of Green Tea but in much higher quantities. One cup of Matcha Green Tea contains as many antioxidants as 10 cups of regular Green Tea, as well as the powerful antioxidant EGCg. It has great metabolism boosting effects, aids weight loss and is rich in fiber, chlorophyll and vitamins. Matcha is also commonly used for its effective natural detoxing properties and can help calm the mind and relax the body. Regular consumption can help lower cholesterol and regulate blood sugar.
Hibiscus Tea
Made by boiling parts of the Hibiscus flower, Hibiscus Tea is a popular drink throughout the world and is also known as a medicinal tea for it's seemingly endless benefits. Also known as Agua De Jamaica, health benefits include relief from high blood pressure and high cholesterol as well as a disturbed digestive and immune system, and inflammatory problems. Hibiscus Tea also helps to cure liver disease and reduces the risk of cancer. Another choice for a natural caffeine-free tea, it can speed up the metabolism and help in healthy, gradual weight loss. It is also rich in Vitamin C, minerals, and various antioxidants, as well as helps in the treatment of hypertension and anxiety.
Peppermint Tea
A refreshing way to boost your overall health, Peppermint Tea has the ability to improve digestion, reduce pain, eliminate inflammation, relax the body and mind, cure bad breath, aid in weight loss and boost the immune system. It has a substantial impact on the digestive system and can aid people with sensitive sleep patterns by drinking this relaxing tea before bed. Peppermint tea is enjoyed around the world, with Peppermint oil a popular form of medicinal treatment, particularly for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Similar effects can be seen from regular consumption of Peppermint Tea. Other benefits include reducing fever, prevention of nausea and vomiting, and reducing stress levels.
Chamomile Tea
One of the most popular varieties of tea in the world, Chamomile is more commonly associated with it's benefits to aid relaxation, reduce stress, calm an upset stomach or to aid sleep. It also has many other health benefits and uses, including its ability to protect the skin, lower stress levels, aid sleep, soothe menstrual symptoms, boost the immune system, treat gastrointestinal issues and manage diabetes.
