Your body is always talking to you, giving you feedback and letting you know what’s happening inside. Most of us don’t know how to listen. Here are 5 easy ways to keep track of things and know if you are allergic to certain foods by listening to your body’s reactions.
Sneezing
Have you ever put something in your mouth and within seconds you started sneezing? This is usually a sign by your body that it isn’t happy with that food. It can be that you are allergic to it, you have had too much or too little of it in your lifetime or recently or that it’s just a food not in tune with your body.
For example, if you are a highly strung, “heated” individual, chances are that something like peppers (extra heat) is not the best thing for your body. If you eat peppers, your body will give some kind of reaction telling you this. Sneezing is one. Let’s see what else is a sign by your body...
Irritability
Have you ever felt very irritable and just couldn’t figure out why? Pay attention! Many foods can make you irritable but you just don’t make the connection because you are not looking out for it. From now on, make a note of when you feel unreasonably irritable and check back to what you ate or drank shortly before.
“Bad meat” is a major cause of irritability. As much as you may not want to believe this, people do eat the stress of animals along with their meat! Yes it’s shocking and it sounds ridiculous. Observe and make your own conclusions. Many people who keep a diary report excess illogical irritability after consuming meat products, especially cheap meats or non organic meats.
Irritability after eating is a sure sign that the food was not right or did not agree with you. This is the part where LA Muscle tells you to replace meats with
LA Whey Protein :0).
Skin reactions
This is probably the most common way of your body telling you that you have eaten or drank something that it doesn’t like. Remember, the offending food can be as big as a steak or as small as some vanilla flavouring. You have to pay attention and try and figure out what you had which was different to normal or “could” have been the culprit.
Skin reactions can be itchiness which is very common and happens within minutes or red blotches such as hives or it can be a more “long term” feedback by your body such as Eczema or Psoriasis.
Common examples are foods like cheese, E numbers or additives that can make you very itchy very fast!
Coughing
Coughing is another instant reaction by your body to something it doesn’t like. This can move on to become choking or some form of anaphylactic shock. If you eat or drink something and you start wheezing or coughing, it could be that you are allergic to that food.
Tiredness/flu-like symptoms/ indigestion
In some cases when people keep feeding their bodies foods which are not in tune with their bodies, the body starts rebelling and its wheels come to a grind! On a larger scale, foods that are not in agreement with your body will cause illness and disease, but that’s another huge subject for another day...
For the purposes of this article, some foods can make you feel just terrible. You may suddenly feel unwell or mega tired and not know how it happened. Make a note of these times and look back at what you ate or drank up to 6 hours before.
Here are some real life examples to give you a better idea:
- You eat a cheese/tomato sandwich and feel itchy and irritable within 10 minutes.
- You drink Diet Coke and break out in hives and feel hot within 5 minutes.
- You drink red wine and get bloated with a headache within 30 minutes.
All the above are signs. Listen to your body and avoid offending foods for a few weeks and see how much better you will feel.
The above is not a substitute for sound medical advice. If you have a problem or suspect one, please see your doctor.
