For as many rags to riches stories, there are also many riches to rags stories and one in particular comes with a tragic end. Pro wrestler Joan Laurer at one stage of her life had everything going for her. Fame, a booming career and earnings of $1 a year. She was a WWE superstar, Playboy model and media personality but Chyna's life spiralled out of control and she became a crystal meth addict and later videos of her were bad; showing her ramblings whilst high on drugs.
Chyna's ashes were recently scattered on Redondo Beach. Chyna's career as pro-wrestling's first real female super-star took off several years after she graduated college in 1992. This 5-foot-10-inch amazonian beauty regularly wore leather and sparkles and took on both men and women in the wrestling ring.
Just as quickly as she went up, her career as a wrestler came down around 2001 and she struggled to remain in the spotlight and her earnings dwindled. Some say she was offered $400k to sign for WWE again but would not accept less than $1m. She posed for Playboy, revealed her struggles with addiction on TV and wrote her memoir. She also became a semi-regular on Howard Stern's radio show and made several adult films. He sister tried to help her by going to rehab but this was unsuccessful. Chyna died of a fatal overdose in April 2016 at age 46. RIP Chyna; your fans miss you.
