There is a secret benefit to working out that only those who work out know and even then, many of them are not aware of it.. not all the time anyway.
When you work out in the gym and push your boundaries and go over that pain barrier, you do something special to your mind and to your body. You teach your mind to be a fighter and you give your body muscle memory.
That “fighter” training, which by the way you can also get by doing other sports, is a very important skill which can be called on at any time in your life and can also serve you well when you least expect it.
Those who have been in the gym and experienced the reps, the sets, the pump and the pain, learn that you need to go through this process to get to the end; to get to your goal. This is a very important life lesson. You, as a weight trainer may take it for grated - however you have a definite advantage over those who have not weight trained in the gym. You KNOW that you need to make a start, you need to push through the pain and you need to be persistent to get to where you want to go. You have done it many time. You know what to do. You just get on with it.
This “secret” will serve you well. It may not be today or next week but one day, you will be glad that you were a gym warrior and you worked out. It can come in to use at any time. It may be that in later years you get fat and you want to lose weight. Or something can happen to your health and you may need to get back on track. You will be glad you were once a gym warrior.
Either way, if you have trained your mind with discipline and hard work in the gym, you will be able to tap into that memory and those feelings at any time in your life and progress through hard times. When you know that whatever you want can be achieved through goal-setting, hard work, dedication and graft, then anything is possible. THIS is the secret benefit of working out. Going to the gym is a workout for your brain and the benefits stay with you for life and are ready on tap throughout your life. Now go and work out…
