Bigger, more defined arms are one of the most desired body parts of any fitness enthusiast. If you find yourself spending hours in the gym every week and your arms still aren’t growing then don’t worry, there is still a lot you can do.
1. Train compound exercises regularly
It’s great to do isolation exercises to grow your biceps but a lot of people don’t realise that their arm muscles are involved in almost every lift they do. When trying to grow bigger biceps any pull exercise such as back exercises are great for recruiting your biceps into the workout.
2. Don’t neglect your triceps
Your triceps are 2/3 of your arm so actually cover a larger part of your arm than the biceps so don’t forget about them. If your triceps look bigger then your arm overall will too so your biceps will appear even more prominently.
3. Switch up your grip
Don’t do every exercise the same way. It is proven that using different types of grips when training will recruit different ranges of muscle fibres and will work more of the muscle to encourage growth. Most exercises can be down with close grip, wide grip as well as pronated, supinated and neutral.
4. Involve your shoulders
Your shoulders don’t just sit pretty at the top of your arms. If they look bigger then your arms also will. Try and include some bicep exercises at the end of each shoulder workout.
5. Rest them to grow
Yes, like any other muscle group your biceps require rest in order to recover and grow. Space out your arm workouts and leave 1-2 days of rest in between training sessions involving them heavily so that they can recover in time for the next session.
