Bloating is extremely common and happens to most people at one time or another, but the reason for it's cause can vary and the best way to prevent it from happening in the future is to find out what is causing it in the first place. Whether you suffer frequently from bloating or if it's only occasionally, try adopting some of these tips to help you beat the bloat and live a happier life.
CHECK FOR FOOD ALLERGIES
This is one of the most common causes of bloating. Most people might have an idea how they feel after eating a certain type of food but the vast majority haven't decided to find out for sure. If you suffer from persistent bloating it's highly recommended to see a specialist about this and they will do some simple in-expensive tests that will let you know once and for all which types of food do not agree with you so that you can adapt your diet accordingly.
DRINK MORE WATER
This is one of the most overused statements but also one of the truest. Drinking more water is fundamental to endless bodily processes and giving your body enough water will ease a lot of those processes such as your digestive system. You should aim for 2-3 litres per day spread throughout the day and should start noticing a difference within a few days.
EAT SMALLER MEALS
Not only will eating smaller meals ease bloating but it can boost your metabolism too. Try breaking your 3 main meals down in 6 smaller meals and eat every 2-3 hours. Measure your portions and the increased frequency of eating will help ease bloating as you won't eat to excess with each meal and it should prevent snacking on unhealthy foods.
GET A DAIRY SUBSTITUTE
Dairy is well known to cause bloating due to its high amounts of lactose. This shouldn't be an issue as nowadays we are spoilt for choice with the variety of options. Some of the most popular include soy, almond, coconut, cashew and rice. They all come in sweetened and unsweetened varieties so you can choose what suits your preference the best and go with that for the foreseeable future.
